TEXTURE
Students in grades K-2 were learning one of the seven elements of art, texture. Kindergarten did leaf rubbings along with finding other textures in their room, then they were to label them. We discussed the current season, fall, how leaves change colors along with each different texture in this assignment. They took a real leaf and glued the smooth side down on card stock, then used stick glue to cover the leaf and card in order to cover with foil and press. The foil was then folded to the back and glued. Students then used black paint and their hand to give their art a patina (dull finish). After they dried students used steel wool (OOOO) to burnish (shine) the raised texture. Once burnished the artwork was ready to mount to construction paper to have it stand out. LOTS of different textures involved.
